26/03/2021 – The top three in the 2020 FIM Moto3™ Junior World Championship are primed to make their debuts in the Moto3™ World Championship this weekend, with Losail International Circuit hosting the season-opening Barwa Grand Prix of Qatar. After some impressive performances in pre-season testing, Izan Guevara (GasGas Gaviota Aspar Team), Xavier Artigas (Leopard Racing) and Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Ajo) look ready to challenge in 2021.

Acosta was the quickest rookie and was second overall, behind only teammate Jaume Masia. The pace was not a one-off lap either after the number 37 showed top form throughout test, and he was pushed for the honour of top rookie much of the time by Guevara. Guevara was forced to settle for fourth by the end. But was the first to get in the mix at the top as testing began and seems to have seamlessly settled in as his trajectory continues.

Artigas was also only just outside the top ten, and he has the distinction of already being a Grand Prix podium finisher after his incredible wildcard performance in Valencia in 2019. So, he has the advantage of more experience in race trim – can he bridge the gap? And an Acosta and Guevara keep their momentum? We’ll find out this weekend, with lights out for Moto3™ at 17:00 (GMT +3).
